The SLCP was awarded £1m funding in 2017 from the Department of Education to expand the programme’s original scope from Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to include Children Looked After (CLA).

Eight boroughs are working collaboratively to develop a sub-regional, outcomes-based approach to commissioning high quality placements for children’s residential care and fostering, within a context of growing demand, subsequent increasing spend, legislative requirements, and reduced budgets.

A central feature of our commissioning solution is an ICT platform which will facilitate improved market engagement and decision-making in the commissioning process. This will be delivered through the Link Maker IT platform, which is currently in a pilot phase across the partnership, and will be fully operational in October 2019.
